The New York Hotel Crowd Is Moving to Palm Beach—and Bringing Pastis With Them

Palm Beach has never lacked glamour. What is changing is the kind of hotel—and the kind of night out—arriving just across the water in West Palm Beach. Scheduled to open October 19, 2026, The Nora Hotel brings the sensibility of New York’s celebrated downtown hospitality scene to a rapidly evolving Florida neighborhood, with French brasserie Pastis, a rooftop social destination and a Sisley Paris spa all part of the address.

New York Hospitality, Palm Beach Setting

The 201-room hotel, including 14 suites, comes from BD Hotels and hotelier Sean MacPherson, names associated with some of Manhattan’s most distinctive properties. Yet this is not an attempt to transplant New York wholesale. The building draws on Mediterranean and Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, while interiors by Gachot Studios bring warmth and character to the guest experience.

Its setting matters as much as its design. The Nora District is transforming historic railway warehouses along North Railroad Avenue into a walkable mix of dining, shopping and creative businesses. For visitors who have long thought of Palm Beach as an enclave of grand resorts and private clubs, this is a different invitation: spend the day exploring a neighborhood, then stay for dinner and drinks.

Pastis Is More Than a Restaurant Opening

Pastis, the New York-born French brasserie associated with restaurateur Stephen Starr, is one of the hotel’s most recognizable draws. The appeal of a brasserie is not only what arrives at the table; it is the room itself, the sense of occasion and the possibility of a long lunch becoming an even longer evening.

At The Nora, that dining culture extends beyond one restaurant. Jack’s Bar offers another gathering place, while the rooftop concept Lillys brings together poolside hospitality, cocktails, dining and programming spanning music and culture.

A Rooftop Built for the Social Calendar

With its pool deck, lounge and restaurant experiences, Lillys aims to be a destination for locals as well as hotel guests. That is an increasingly important distinction in luxury hospitality. The most compelling new hotels do not simply offer somewhere to sleep; they become part of a city’s social rhythm.

Wellness is another part of the equation. A Sisley Paris spa adds a beauty and treatment experience that makes the property relevant beyond overnight stays, connecting the hotel to the wider Palm Beach audience.

Why West Palm Beach Is Worth Watching

The Nora’s arrival says something about the changing geography of South Florida luxury. Miami remains a global destination, and Palm Beach retains its established appeal, but West Palm Beach is developing a more distinct identity of its own, shaped by restaurants, design, new investment and an increasingly active cultural scene.

For travelers, the opportunity is to discover that shift as it happens. For the hotel, the challenge will be to deliver a sense of personality that lasts beyond opening week. The best New York hospitality addresses became institutions because people returned for the atmosphere, not simply the rooms. The Nora is arriving with the ambition to create something similar in a very different setting.

Opening information is based on The Nora District’s published October 19 date and October 2026 reporting. Individual restaurant opening schedules and amenities should be reconfirmed before a visit.
